Birchview Design is thrilled to officially reveal our latest commercial design. Over the past few months, we have been working with the team at Jo Anne’s Place Health Foods to construct a retail space that not only creates a welcoming environment for patrons, but a space that also encompasses the rich history of the company’s roots, the immense knowledge that the staff provide, and amazing attention customer care.
At Birchview Design, we sought to bring to the table a design that would showcase what sets Jo Anne’s Place apart. From the high gloss white cabinetry for the Dispensary with clean lines and contrasting tile, to moody greys with organic and galvanized accents for the Café area, right down to the paint colours and the flooring, our design paired the necessary functionality of a retail space, with the aesthetic appeal of someplace you can call home.
With our design and vision in place, we reached out to Joanna Smeeth (of Alair Homes) to help us bring our design to life. Featured in this post is a sneak peak of our overall design, a rendered drawing of our welcoming exterior, and our sign being proudly posted on site.! We can hardly wait for this iconic Peterborough storefront to truly transform from concept… to completion. Stay tuned for the after photos!
Our client was looking for a getaway on the lake where he could step out of the city to enjoy nature, without sacrificing any of the comforts of a stylish home. With this in mind, the team set out to create a design with stunning modern elements, while still paying homage to the natural surroundings.
Upon entry to the custom home, you are welcomed not only by the spectacular view, but also the striking kitchen. With crisp white high-gloss upper cabinets, and charcoal wood grain lower cabinets, this two-toned kitchen is a perfect example of the elevated blend of modern and cottage in the overall design. The open concept of the kitchen, with a large island (complete with seating under a quartz waterfall edge) warmly welcomes guests to enjoy the company of the chef, and a view of the sunset while the evening’s meal is prepared. The bathrooms, with modern matte black and chrome finishes are paired perfectly with custom vanities and streamlined accessories. The porcelain tiles for the flooring and walls were selected for their unique shapes and textures, and the hardwood flooring throughout is a moderately distressed white oak, with warm undertones and hints of white and charcoal in the matte finish. The paint pallet is white, with accents of charcoal and black, creating a stunning backdrop for organic accents such as wood, stone, and galvanized metal.
This custom cottage is a vibrant example of how modern design can be curated to complement a cottage lifestyle.
Check out this new build we are working on with Discovery Dream Homes! Things are really coming together and taking shape. One of our favorite aspects of this stunning custom design is the bunkie. This building offers the most beautiful view of the lake, and will be a perfect addition to the cottage. We have shown a little sneak peek into our design thoughts!
